Summary Lion cub Simba begins life as a prince, son of the powerful King Mufasa, but his Uncle Scar murders Mufasa and drives Simba away from the kingdom. In exile, he befriends a warthog and a meerkat and lives a carefree jungle life. But as he approaches adulthood, he is visited by the spirit of his father, who instructs him to defeat Scar and reclaim the throne.
