As she battles the evil priestess Tsubaki, Kagome is poisoned by a corrupted shard of the Shikon Jewel that threatens to turn her against Inu-Yasha and put her under Kagura's control.

Inuyasha is left vulnerable after his demonic powers are stripped away, leaving Miroku to rely on the wind tunnel to save Inuyasha before it is too late.

Naraku seeks the help of a dark priestess named Tsubaki, who specializes in curses, in his quest to kill Kagome. She agrees, but only after he promises her the nearly complete Jewel of the Four Souls.

Tsubaki feels to the ancient temple where she trained as a youth and two naive priestesses believe her when she claims she's being pursued by an evil demon.
